We’re in Singapore now. Xuanie is big-time jet-lagged, so I have been totally sleep deprived. It’s emotionally very draining and painful for both of us when he gets into his sleep-deprivation hysteria, when he starts destroying everything in his way as he tornadoes through my parents’ apartment.
But, amidst the turmoil of the waiting period for the jet-lag to go away, there’s this one Kodak moment:
Three nights ago, Xuanie woke up at 3 a.m. He sat down next to me, as I laid still, pretending to be asleep, secretly hoping he will go to sleep too. Instead of saying, “Mama wake up!” as he always does, he took each of my arms, one at a time, and tucked them under the blanket. He then smoothed out the blanket and put his arm on my chest to soothe me. Finally, he bent towards my face and kissed me on the lips. Then he moved away to play with his cars.
What can I say? Such sweetness, such cute love. What a Mama’s boy!
